Peveril of the Peak,
A lovely old family run pub with good beer
This pub gets a real mix of clientele, being close to the city centre, the Bridgewater Hall, the Cornerhouse and the Uni. Always lively
Extortionate beer prices, 50p dearer than o’Sheas’s! She killed off the traditional music session by calling last orders anywhere between 9pm and 10.30pm 0n Tuesday’s, which is no good if you have travelled 12 miles to get there and find that the last orders have gone!
that is such a shame, used to be good.
Traditional pub with polished wooden floors and furnishings. Not particularly friendly, the local office workers clearly don’t like intruders. Prices are outrageous. Doubt very much if I’ll be going in here again. Pity. Beautiful looking pub though.
bought by a Japanese bank in the ’90’s and went downhill when they stopped doing Theakston’s

I FIRST WENT IN THE PEVRIL IN 1962 WHEN I WORKED AT HALFORDS AT THE TOP OF THE ROAD (STAN HAD IT THEN) IT WAS GOOD AND FRIENDLY, THE LAST TIME I WENT IN WAS 2002 WHEN IT WAS UNFRIENDLY AND VERY EXPENSIVE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT NOW AT ALL, NICE PUB BUT GIVE IT A WIDE BEARTH.
