poor service, inpolite bar staff the tables in the pub were so dirty my arms stuck to the table. the larger which cost £3 25 a pint was so bad we left it. i only live 5 mins away but will never go back no wonder there was only a hand full of people in the dump!

Gone so far downhill there could well be no saving it.

They have just spent some money decorating the function room (which is rarely used) and the pool room (which most people don’t use)

The rest of the pub has been left to decline over the last 6 or 7 years.

There is a handfull of regulars (of which I am (was) one)
having drunk in there several times a week for over 10 years I’ve watched it go steadily down hill.

The food has recently improved as there is a new chef (regulars will actually eat in there now after a couple of years of watching almost every meal being returned and refunded)

This week they ran out of Fosters, and tonight I have just stood at the bar for 15 minutes and watched 2 people get served before me when they arrived long after I did, seems the staff tonight are serving whoever is closest to them not who has been waiting longest.
When I left there were about 10 people waiting to get served, 2 people behind the bar, one of which was processing a food order (they were entering it in the till when I arrived and still entering it when I left) she regularly stopped the other staff member from serving to help with the food order and often left the bar.

If you want a decent pub with good service, good food and friendly staff try ‘The Melville’ instead

Booked the function room for my partners 50th. Been coming here for over 30 years, we were told by the bar staff we could leave items overnight and that we could pick them up the next day. In 12 hours 12 cans of Guinness and a forero Roche pyramid went missing from the time we left when we explained this to Paul he put the blame back on us for leaving items there. He has no compassion and as customer service skills let’s say he doesn’t have a pulse. We will never be stepping foot in this run down disgrace again.
