My husband & I had finished our canal boat holiday at the boat club opposite the Horseshoe Pub. We wanted to have a relaxing meal & drink so popped into the pub. Although the pub had recently been modernised & looked great the noise hit us like a sonic boom as we entered. While my husband bought drinks I found a seat & started to look at the menu. I didn’t finish looking at the menu because the noise level was making me feel very unrelaxed. Unfortunately this was due to the open-plan design and the lack of noise-absorbing flooring e.g carpet. The pub was not too busy; it was just the amplified sound of customers talking & laughing loudly that was so unpleasant. Despite not being able to hear each other properly we decided to finish out drinks then get a takeaway and a bottle of wine from the local supermarket to eat/drink back at our boat. So disappointed. Sorry, won’t be going back to this pub.
I honestly think I was there the same day, there has been a funeral and a group had been drinking and just got louder and louder, they were actually shouting to each other from just across the table. Then a bloke who had been at the bar joined them an upper the decibel level. I’ve been back since and it was nice plus the food was fantastic.
